The rivalry between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale has been in existence for a very long time before these two icons became stars.
It is not known what started the rivalry between these two talented dancehall artists but it began somewhere in 2004 when Shatta Wale was known as ‘Bandana’ and Stonebwoy, an underground artiste.
They both participated in a dancehall competition dubbed ‘Battle Days’ which took place at Tawala Beach in Accra, thus the beginning of the ‘Stonebwoy-Shatta wale beef’.

The two artists since then have been throwing indirect shots at each other as to who is the best dancehall artiste.
Fast forward to 2013, the two dancehall musicians were interviewed to promote an upcoming event and they nearly got into a fight on live tv.
The host of the show had to change sitting positions and also cautioned Shatta Wale to be mindful of his words.
During the interview, Shatta Wale also stated that a lot of artists and managers have a problem with his career because they are not good like him.
“I am very humble but I found out that because of my talent people are fighting me for no reason”, he stated.

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have spent good times together on stage in 2015 at the 4Syte Music Awards and at the 2017 edition of the Ashiaman to the World Concert.
Well, Ghanaians thought the ‘beef’ had come to an end but it escalated to another level in 2018 when Shatta Wale released a song titled ‘No Mercy for the cripple’ which was an indirect diss to Stonebwoy.
Since then, through interviews and social media messages, the award-winning dancehall artists have been sending indirect jabs to each other.
The recent ‘feud’ started when Shatta Wale stormed the stage at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards when Stonebwoy was announced the winner of Dancehall Artiste of the year.
This caused a scuffle on stage when Stonebwoy’s men prevented Shatta Wale’s entourage from mounting the stage.
Stonebwoy in defence pulled out a gun which resulted in dignitaries, celebrities and others present running out of the auditorium.
The show which was disrupted for almost 30 minutes went on but the winner of the Artiste of the Year and Most popular song wasn’t announced.
The two musicians however apologised for their actions, which can be termed as a national disgrace but Shatta Wale explained that his intention for going on stage was to congratulate Stonebwoy.
Well, the two musicians were arrested the same night and later granted bail with one surety.
They have been arraigned before court and will reappear on 20th June 2019.
