The IGP, David Asante-Apeatu, had caused some changes at the police service. Mainly senior officers have been affected – Some have been reassigned to other regions, while others have been transferred within Accra.
According to a report sighted by pinax.com on tweeted by peace FM online.com, a total of 122 officers have been reassigned with the affected mainly being senior police officers. About close to 10 of these officers at the Police Headquarters in Accra have been transferred to other parts of the country.
For instance, DSP Henry N. Agyemang, is now the commander in charge of the Divisional MTTU office at Kibi in the Eastern Region.
Also, ASP Patrick Kodjoe Okai, who was at the national headquarters, is now the staff officer at the Brong Ahafo Regional Head office.
Again the public relations officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DSP Olivia Turkson, according to the list, has been transferred to the Marine, Ports and Railways, in Tema.
Meanwhile, the police has come under a barrage of attack following the violence that broke out at the recently held Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
President Akufo-Addo had described the situation as “regrettable”, stressing that the police would investigate the matter and punish whoever was found guilty.
