President Nana Akufo-Addo says there is no reason for Ghanaians to be poor when the country has good leaders pursuing the right policies for the prosperity of all citizens.
According to him, the government’s pro-poor policies are critical to securing the future of Ghanaians.
He appealed to citizens to support government implement its plans and policies for the wellbeing of all.
The president was speaking at Bongo in the Upper East Region where he cut the sod for the construction of 8km Bongo-Balungu-Namoo road that links Ghana to Burkina Faso.
“There is no reason for us to be poor in Ghana if we have leadership that is honest with good policies in our time we will see prosperity in Ghana, not in the future but now in this country. I need our support for us to be able to implement all the programmes that we have to be able to transform the lives of our people.”
When completed next year, the road will facilitate easy access of articulators into Burkina Faso and improve revenue collection at the border.
Nana Addo stated that about 180,000 students would be admitted into high schools under the free Senior High School policy adding that, 8,000 teachers will be recruited to balance the student-teacher ratio in the senior high schools.
He also indicated that the Bongo district would also benefit from adding ten dams under the One Village One Dam policy to ensure all year round farming.
