Chinese woman arrested with 4 trucks of rosewood in Tamale missing


Helen Huang, the Chinese woman who was arrested on Monday dawn at Tamale with 4 heavy trucks of rosewood from Tumu in the Upper West Region of Ghana through Tamale to Tema in the Greater Accra region is missing according to Northern Regional Police Crime Officer, Supt. Otuo Acheampong.
According to Northern Regional Police Crime Officer, Supt. Otuo Acheampong, Helen Huang who is believed to be the sister of Aisha Huang, the Galamsey Queen who was deported has been missing for the past 48 hours.
According to the Police, Helen Huang has not shown up at the police station for the past 3 days breaching her bail conditions which legally constitute missing.

Speaking to Starr News, the Crime Officer said:
She has not reported,” the crime officer disclosed, adding, “even a court can give order and people will refuse to go by it?
“We… as part of our bail condition, she is supposed to report yesterday, she hasn’t come, that’s why we released her to surety so if she doesn’t come, it’s the surety we will take action against. We have called upon the surety to impress upon him to produce the suspect, if the surety doesn’t produce her, the next thing is that we will take the surety to court for the court to take action against the surety”.
Supt. Acheampong also disclosed that police will not allow the suspect further time to breach her bail condition.

“And then we have a lot of information about her, we have her picture we can publish her, we can declare her wanted and all that,” the crime officer stated.

43-year-old Helen Huang was arrested on Monday around 4:00 AM at the Vittin Barrier in Tamale. conveying four trucks of rosewood which has been banned for the past one year by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
Speaking to the media on the arrest, Supt Otuo Acheampong said:
“My men arrested a Chinese woman Helena Huang with two trucks full of rosewood last night in Tamale and our initial investigations established that the suspect did not have log measurements and conveyance certificate as well as lumber expectations certificate.

“The suspect Helena Huang insists she has all the documents but we will for now keep her in our custody till investigations are over,” he added.
